TapTap iPhone app for Deaf came about as the result Jay's need to get the attention of his deaf employees while painting without having to throw all his spare change at them. David turned this idea into a workable app for the iPhone and wrote TapTap. Ray, a close friend of Jay and David was brought in to help share this idea and app with the deaf community.

Jay Richards

was born and raised in South Boston and spent the first half of his life on the East coast before moving to Los Angeles after his mother death in 1988.. Having been raised by a mother who was deaf, he was exposed to the world of the deaf culture at an early age. His Mother attended Boston School For The Deaf (BSD) and after graduating, raised 4 boys and a girl on her own-not an easy thing to do as a single deaf woman in the rough neighborhood of South Boston in the 70's. Survival was dependent on having Jay as her interpreter during those early years.

The high school he later attended had quite a comprehensive program for the many deaf who attended the school as well which was an added bonus and proved an asset to his continued involvement in the deaf community.

Taking his native signing skills with him to Los Angeles, he has continued to be an advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing community. He gives a yearly lecture at the elementary school where his wife teaches, to introduce the deaf culture to the children.

Jay is also featured signing a song in a patriotic music video featuring many races and cultures including the deaf community. The video is soon to be released.

He runs an art studio and has hired the deaf to work with him as his native signing creates a more comfortable work environment for them.

Jay and David developed the iPhone app-Tap tap, which was born out of the need to enhance the perceptions of the deaf who are working on a construction site, or where the need to heighten the awareness of the working environment is important.

David Vondracek

owner of a successful Los Angeles web design and programming company with his wife, applied his many years of computer programming experience to design TapTap from Jay's initial ideas. He prefers applications that actually help the user in their daily life over shopping carts and email forms any day.

Ray McKay

president of a successful Los Angeles marketing company, brings his experience and expertise in marketing, promotion, internet presence and public relations to TapTap. He has strong interest in working with businesses and organizations to help them expand.
